Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a medical treatment that uses a photosensitizing drug, Levulan Kerastick®, and a light source to activate the applied drug. The result treats pre-cancerous cells called actinic keratosis.
Levulan Kerastick® plus blue light illumination using the BLU-U® Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy Illuminator is indicated for the treatment of pre-cancerous actinic keratosis of the face, scalp or arms.
In addition to its actinic keratosis indication (see above), the BLU-U® Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy Illuminator is generally indicated to treat dermatological conditions.
PDT is covered by Medicare and most advantage plans.
